Therapy for Depression and Anxiety

Anxiety and depression represent the two ends of a mood disorder spectrum. Some folks actually have what used to be termed "anxious depression." At Beyond the Horizons Consulting, we utilize a variety of techniques to combat these mood disorders. Anxiety responds to meditation and clinical hypnosis. It also lessens its tight grip through the use of EMDR and Brain Spotting. Please refer to these sections of the website for further information on these techniques. Jean Eva  is sensitive to the pain caused by living with either (or both) anxiety and depression and will tailor her approach to your unique situation.

Depression may result from any number of stressful events in one's life. This is called reactive depression. Depression may also be a mindset which has permeated many periods in one's life.  Medications may help, especially to bridge a very difficult period in one's life.  However, it has been shown that medication alone is very often ineffective in dispelling a depression. As therapists, we need to help our patients confront their belief systems. When we examine our commonly held thoughts, we may find that many of them are quite negative. At Beyond the Horizons Consulting, we can help you become more aware of negative thoughts and self-sabotaging behaviors, and replace them with MORE POSITIVITY AND GRATEFULNESS. You will experience both in the session and between sessions creative "assignments" which give you a sense of accomplishment. You will experience individual attention, directed not only at your situation but toward your goals and dreams -- even those you bring from your sleep into daily life.
